Bureau of Mines Renovation – Construction Manager at Risk

North Carolina State University is accepting proposals for Construction Manager at Risk for the Bureau of Mines Renovation until 5:00 p.m. on April 5, 2017 in the office of Capital Project Management, Administrative Services Building III, 2701 Sullivan Drive, Suite 331, Campus Box 7520, Raleigh, N.C. 27695-7520.

Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) services are needed to renovate the 16,817 gross square foot (GSF) Bureau of Mines building built in 1945. The project will remove a partial mezzanine and construct a new interstitial floor for a total of four floors to house the Dean and administrative offices of the College of Sciences. The renovation will correct building system deficiencies (fire suppression, HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and asbestos abatement.  ADA compliance as well as building code and State Energy Code issues will also be addressed. The original single-glazed windows will be replaced and exits reconfigured. A new entry along Stinson Drive shall be created to mitigate the grade change and will include the installation of a new elevator. The design shall reinforce the Universities desire to create an open environment to foster collaboration and highlight the original structure.

The project is funded through Construction Documents.  Project budget of $6 million includes design, construction and other project related costs.

North Carolina State University has an affirmative policy of fostering, promoting and conducting business with minority owned enterprises. Minorities are encouraged to participate in the Construction Management at Risk Program.

A mandatory pre-proposal conference will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on March 22, 2017 in Room 301 of the Administrative Services III Building located at 2701 Sullivan Drive. Obtain parking permits from NCSU Transportation, located in Administrative Services Building I, at 2721 Sullivan Drive.
