Steam Tunnel Structure Repairs- Advertisement for Bids & Notice of Public Meeting for Proposed Alternate Bids for Preferred Products

Sealed proposals will be received by NC State University. Attention Steven R. Bostian, PE until 3:00 PM on March 22, 2018 in conference room 101, Administrative Services III Building 2701 Sullivan Drive, Raleigh, NC 27695 and immediately thereafter publicly opened and read for the furnishing of labor, material and equipment for the construction of:

Project includes the excavation and concrete encasement of approximately 115 LF of underground utility tunnel below Yarbrough Drive on campus at the North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. Also included in the project is excavation and reconstruction of approximately 7 LF of top slab on the south side of Syme Hall and over 380 localized concrete repairs in nearly 1 mile of tunnel length. Tunnel system houses a steam district energy system along with associated high-pressure condensate and pumped condensate. Also in the tunnels are limited electrical systems and telecommunications cabling. At a nearby location, this project will provide site improvements and site stair reconfiguration at a major pedestrian thoroughfare.

Bids will be received for single prime bid contracts.  All Proposals will be lump sum.

Pre-Bid Meeting

A non-mandatory but strongly encouraged pre-bid meeting followed by a walkdown of a short section of the tunnel will be held for all interested bidders on March 7, 2018 at 3:00 PM in Room 101 of Administrative Services III Building at 2701 Sullivan Drive, Raleigh, NC 27695. The meeting will address project specific questions.

Notice of Public Meeting for Proposed Alternate Bids for Preferred Products.

 An open public meeting will be held on March 7, 2018 at 2:30 PM in Room 101 of Administrative Services III Building at 2701 Sullivan Drive, Raleigh, NC 27695.  The meeting is to identify preferred brand alternates and their performance standards pertinent to this project.

In accordance with GS133-3, Section 64. (C) and State Construction Office procedures the following preferred brand items are being considered as Alternates by the owner for this project:
