Request for General Contractor PreQualification Submittals- Ricks Hall – 2nd Floor Renovations

North Carolina State University is seeking qualification statements from general contractors for Ricks Hall – 2nd Floor Renovations located on NC State’s North Campus at 1 Lampe Drive, Raleigh, NC.  Ricks Hall, built in 1921 will be renovated (interior only) to improve inefficiently configured office space on the second floor and a portion of the ground floor to accommodate a higher number of faculty and staff.  This renovation will demolish most of the existing 2nd floor spaces to provide new areas for the Department of Agricultural & Human Sciences.   The project will address deficient building systems including sprinkler system, lighting/power, plumbing and new HVAC unit (to be located on the ground floor) and bring the space into compliance with the NC Building, State Energy and Accessibility codes.  Due to a recent $3M increase in Project Authority, the scope was expanded to include a new 1st floor HVAC system, sprinkler system and lighting as well as ADA restroom upgrades.

To qualify, the contractor must have a general contractor’s license in the State of North Carolina as well as applicable bonding requirements.  The contractor must show comparable work experience, both in complexity and dollar value, and preferably in a University campus environment, to the scope of work outlined above.

To be considered, the contractor must obtain an application package from the NC State University Project Manager and submit a sealed, fully completed qualification document by 5:00 PM, October 28, 2021, to Bob Cwikla, project manager, by email only, to rmcwikla@ncsu.edu.  No hard copies shall be submitted.  Application packages will be available electronically after September 24, 2021.  Please contact the project manager via email (preferred) or phone to request a package.

Note:  The 26 contractors that submitted previously and were notified on 11/2/2020 that they were prequalified to bid, will not have to re-submit. However, they do need to submit a new bonding letter and confirm if they intend to bid the project now scheduled for 1/21/22.

NC State University has an affirmative policy of fostering, promoting, and conducting business with women and minority owned enterprises.  Women and minority contractors are encouraged to participate in the pre-qualification process.
