North Carolina State University is seeking qualification statements from general contractors for the relocation of the Small Ruminant and Metabolism Units from the Trenton Road site to the Lake Wheeler site off Mid Pines Rd. The project includes several new buildings including a teaching and research barn (14,597 SF), equipment storage barn (2,659 SF), hay storage barn (3,771 SF), composting shed (673 SF), quarantine shed (637 SF), well shed (46 SF), site work, and paddock development.
To qualify, the contractor must have a general contractor’s license in the State of North Carolina as well as applicable bonding requirements. The contractor must show comparable work experience, both in complexity and dollar value, and preferably in a university campus environment, to the scope of work outlined above.
To be considered, the contractor must obtain an application package from the NC State University Project Manager and submit a fully completed qualification document by 5:00pm, May 13, 2026, to Michele Maxwell, project manager, by email only to DC_Formal_Prequal@ncsu.edu.
