Alexander Hall houses participants in the International Program with one American and one International student per room. The building is named after Sydenham Bernard Alexander, Jr. (1877-1935), an engineering graduate who managed and directed the textile corporation Crompton-Knowles Loom Works.

Alexander was the first NC State alumnus to serve on the executive committee of the Board of Trustees. This 100-member board was established at the time of the consolidation of the university system in 1931. Alexander was also president of the Alumni Association during the great depression of the 1930’s. His loyalty and activity as an alumnus continued throughout his life.
