Architectural and engineering design services for an addition and renovation to Carmichael Gym, built in 1961. The existing east wing, 47,000 gross square feet (GSF), will be demolished and replaced with an addition of approximately 82,800 GSF.  The project scope includes: recreation, fitness and specialized activity space; classroom/multipurpose space; offices; and a functional training area.  The project will create one controlled access point for the complex, make the second floor of the existing gymnasium building accessible, and install a sprinkler system and replace alarm systems throughout the entire complex.

North Carolina State University is seeking qualification statements from general contractors for the E.S. King Village; Roof Upgrades Phase I.

Work for this project to provide roof upgrades on four (4) residences include:

  • Demolition of existing roof components.
  • Construction of new roof overbuilds consisting of wood trusses (fire-retardant) with asphalt shingles, new gutters, and downspouts
  • Electrical – new exterior lighting at apartment entry.
  • Replacement of existing bathroom exhaust fans with new fans.
  • New plaster finishes over existing concrete building panels. Work will be performed by a single prime construction contract based on a lump sum proposal
  • Cleaning and painting of existing concrete building elements.

Construction Schedule – 9/1/16 to 10/13/17

To qualify the contractor must have a general contractor’s license in the State of North Carolina as well as applicable bonding requirements.  The contractor must have completed within the past six years, two similar renovation projects in University settings with values exceeding $500,000.

North Carolina State University is seeking qualification statements from general contractors for the Extension of Initiative Way located on Centennial Campus.  This project includes clearing and grubbing, site grading with cut and fill, asphalt pavement, concrete curb and gutter, site lighting and landscaping for Initiative Way and Blair Drive. The project will install approximately 1500 Linear Feet of new, two lane asphalt pavement with concrete curb and gutter from the current end point of Initiative Way at the Oval Drive Storage Lots south to the intersection of Blair Drive and Initiative Way. The project will also include the extension of approximately 328 Linear Feet of two lane road with curb and gutter of Blair Drive east to connect with Centennial Parkway. The project will include a 72-inch CMP in the Blair Drive extension to preserve a perennial stream on the northeast side of Centennial Campus.

North Carolina State University is seeking qualification statements from general contractors for improvements to Thermal Utilities and Infrastructure – College of Textiles and Monteith Research Center located on Centennial Campus.  This project will advance the Centennial Campus Utilities Master plan and extend central thermal utilities to the College of Textiles (COT), the Monteith Engineering Research Center (MRC), and the Constructed Facilities Laboratory (CFL) which will provide utilities to heat, cool, and meet process needs. Currently, COT and MRC have the original stand-alone thermal plants. The project will include approximately 2000 LF of chilled water supply and return and approximately 2500 LF of high pressure steam and pumped condensate from existing services on Main Campus Drive to the COT, MRC, and CFL facilities. The project will include demolition of the existing equipment, piping and pumping modifications within the existing facilities and extend new underground piping, manholes, and controls.

Plant Sciences – Architecture/Engineer Selection

The vision for the new Plant Sciences Building is to create a highly collaborative and interactive environment, where researchers from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and from across the university can build imaginative and far-reaching multidisciplinary partnerships with scientists from government, industry, and regulatory agencies. The goal of these interdisciplinary, research-team partnerships is to find innovative and creative solutions for the grand challenges of agriculture, agribusiness, and plant research, including those regarding food production, sustainability, disease resistance, and climate change.

The building design will promote creativity and collaboration. This five-story building will be approximately 199,000 gross square feet (GSF) comprised of research labs, office space, corporate lab/office suites, hearth/atrium space, support space, and shared, flexible conferencing space. The partial fifth floor will house Biosafety Levels (BSL) 2 and 3 rooftop greenhouses.
