Broadcast Studio Renovation: Murphy Football Center- Request for General Contractor Prequalification Submittals

North Carolina State University is seeking qualification statements from general contractors for improvements to Murphy Football Center, located on 4600 Trinity Road, Raleigh.  The project scope includes renovation to the First and Ground Floors of the Murphy Center to accommodate a broadcast studio and associated equipment to support the ACC Network.  Project includes demolition and new interior construction, including conduit to a central telecom head end within the building.  Exterior work is limited to the HVAC equipment supporting the new construction.  AV equipment will be procured and installed under a separate prime contract which will begin immediately after acceptance of this phase.

To be considered, the contractor must obtain an application package from the NC State University Project Manager and submit a sealed, fully completed qualification document by 5:00pm, March 5, 2018, to Bill Davis, project manager, at Administrative Services Building III, 2701 Sullivan Dr., Suite 331, NCSU, Campus Box 7520, Raleigh, NC 27695-7520.  Application packages will be available electronically after February 12, 2018.  Please contact the project manager via email (preferred) or phone to request a package.  Three (3) hard copies of completed qualification packages must be submitted to the project manager.  Completed qualification packages will not be accepted electronically.

Outreach Session & Prequalification Workshop- Carmichael Gymnasium Addition & Renovation

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORSOutreach Session & Prequalification Workshop:  Frank L. Blum Construction, as the Construction Manager at Risk for The State of North Carolina and NC State University is hosting an Outreach Session & Prequalification Workshop for Phase 1 – Carmichael Gymnasium Addition & Renovation on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 4:30 pm at the Playzone at Carmichael Gym, 1000 Carmichael Gym, 2611 Cates Avenue, Raleigh, NC. The project will demolish the 47,000 GSF east wing, and replace it with an addition of approximately 82,800 GSF.  It will be a LEED silver certified building.

Phase 1 Scopes of Work include:  General Trades, Building Demolition, Hazardous Material Abatement, Concrete, Structural Steel, Elevators, Sitework, Site Utilities and Aggregate Piers.  Phase 1 is scheduled to bid and start May 2018.

Lake Wheeler Creamery Cafe and Education Center

Description:  This one-story, approximately 4,500-gsf facility will provide a creamery café. The building is expected to be a pre-engineered metal building and will be designed to fit in with the aesthetic of the Lake Wheeler Road Field Labs on an approximately two acres site. Knowledge of merchandising and operational design is critical to the success of the facility. Site design includes well, septic systems, stormwater devices, lighting, and parking.

Murphy Sports Medicine

Description:  This project will renovate approximately 5,580 gross square feet in the first-floor sports therapy area (rooms 120A – 130A) of the Wendell Murphy Football Center.  Modifications include demolishing existing offices and an outdated wave pool and installing a steam room and hot and cold therapy pools in the 1,805 gross square foot hydrotherapy area.  Also included are updated offices, open cubicles, and a reconfigured central therapy area.

HVAC Renovations Price Music Hall

Description:   Built in 1972, the 24,000 SF two-story building is served by two four-pipe multi-zone AHUs.  Original air distribution duct is lined.  Steam humidifiers in the duct are not operational.  Building heating hot water, chilled water and domestic hot and cold water are served from the Talley Student Center mechanical room.  A steam pressure reducing station (inactive) is installed in the second-floor mechanical room.  Existing controls are pneumatic.

This project will replace the aging building HVAC system, including air handling units, steam humidification, air distribution duct, VAV boxes with zone reheat and digital controls.  Some ACM abatement is anticipated.

Skanska USA Building is currently seeking to pre-qualify principal trade and specialty contractors for the NC State Engineering Building Oval project. Engineering Building Oval (EBO) is the fourth in a series of engineering buildings on the Centennial Campus precinct, which will complete the College of Engineering’s (COE) presence on the Oval. This project accommodates the moves of the Fitts Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE), Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE), and the Dean’s Administration from the North Campus precinct to further unify the college and promote opportunities for synergies and collaboration. The building will support broad initiatives in the areas of: advanced materials and manufacturing; robotics and sensor technology; service sector engineering; critical infrastructure and security; transportation and logistics; and energy and environmental systems.  The 227,000 GSF, four-story structure will include laboratories, classrooms, and offices.

Firms interested in the project are required to submit project specific prequalification forms.  The deadline for submission of prequalification forms for site work, temporary shoring and site fencing is November 1, 2017.  The deadline for submission of prequalification forms for structural concrete, structural steel, waterproofing, elevators, and building controls is December 1, 2017.
