Dabney Hall, originally constructed in 1969, is a 135,000 square foot, 9 story building, housing primarily the department of chemistry. Issues of odors, re-entrainment, insufficient supply air, insufficient exhaust, and balancing exist in the building.  A recent study conducted of the HVAC, emergency power, and life safety systems identified system deficiencies that require correction for improved HVAC system performance.

This project will consist of new HVAC terminal unit equipment and modifications to the existing ductwork systems. A new HVAC DDC control system will be installed providing for integration of HVAC equipment under one control system. In addition to the project focusing on HVAC upgrades throughout the building scope will include renovation of approximately 4,000 SF of existing laboratory and office space on the ground floor.

The project will be completed concurrent with normal research, teaching, and administrative support activities. After hours work and constrained utility shutdown time periods will be expected.

Bids will be received for single prime bid contracts.  All Proposals will be lump sum.

Murphy Sports Medicine- Request for General Contractor Prequalification Submittals

North Carolina State University is seeking qualification statements from general contractors for improvements to Murphy Sports Medicine, located on NC State’s West Campus precinct.  The project scope includes renovation of approximately 5,580 gross square feet in the first floor sports therapy area (rooms 120A – 130A) of the Wendell Murphy Football Center.  Modifications include demolishing existing offices and an outdated wave pool and installing a steam room and hot and cold therapy pools in the 1,805 gross square foot hydrotherapy area.  Also included are updated offices, open cubicles and a reconfigured central therapy area.

HVAC Renovations Price Music Hall- Request for General Contractor Prequalification Submittals

North Carolina State University is seeking qualification statements from general contractors for improvements to HVAC Renovations Price Music Hall, located on NC State’s Main Campus precinct.  Built in 1972, the 24,000 SF two-story building is served by two four-pipe multi-zone AHUs.  The project scope includes replacement of the aging building HVAC system, including air handling units, steam humidification, air distribution duct, VAV boxes with zone reheat and digital controls.  Some ACM abatement is anticipated.

Project Description:

The Plant Sciences Building (PSB) is a 184,815 square foot, five-story building of type IB construction.  Spaces developed within the building are planned to enhance the collaboration and connectivity among the University colleges, with the community, and the economy.   The Plant Science Initiative (PSI) Governance model will create a hierarchy of goals related to the activities occurring within the building.  These goals include both research and outreach efforts.  Attracting the public to the facility, creating space for extension services and showcasing the current research to the community are all fundamental goals of the building design.  Criteria developed for the program, finishes, and massing of the building, address planned functions and dedicated areas for these activities within the building.

  • Rooftop greenhouse space will provide fully conditioned under glass growth environments. There will be a mix of BL2-P and BL3-P greenhouse space.  The greenhouses will be supported by headhouse, storage and greenhouse office and conference space (provided as part of future bid packages).
  • The rooftop greenhouse will be procured during this bid event through a greenhouse subcontractor to include a delegated design of the structure and systems within.

Rigging Replacement Stewart Theater – Talley- Request for General Contractor Prequalification Submittals

North Carolina State University is seeking qualification statements from general contractors for improvements to Rigging Replacement Stewart Theater – Talley, located on Central Campus.  The project scope includes removal of the existing rigging equipment above the Stewart Theater and installation of all new assemblies. The new assemblies will include static, manually and electrically operated equipment assemblies, systems and components required for locating scenic, acoustic, lighting, and masking elements in variable vertical and horizontal planes. The project will install a tension wire grid consisting of frames supporting a woven wire rope tension grid. The grid shall provide a serviceable walking surface for technical personnel for access to and hanging locations for performance lighting and performance equipment. The work also includes the installation of electrical boxes and conduit for connections for the motorized equipment associated with the rigging. Some retrofitting of the fire protection piping and valves for the sprinkler system will also be required.
