Bagwell Residence Hall was the seventh dormitory on campus and opened in 1925. It was renamed after Eugene Cleveland Bagwell who graduated from NC State in civil engineering in 1904 and received the Archibald D. Murphy Historical Prize. He was also a manager of the Seaboard Airline Railroad, which owns the railroad tracks that lay outside of the building.
