Bostian Hall is a three-story building with a total area of 35,000 square feet. The building is named after Carey Hoyt Bostian, who succeeded Harrelson in 1953 as NC State Chancellor. Bostian accepted the position only under the condition that he could step down in a few years. After six years of resolving complex issues of the 1950s, he resigned his esteemed position to return to “his first love — teaching.” Afterward, he worked as a geneticist, and later, as director of the School of Agriculture.
