Originally opened as Tenth Dormitory in 1939, Clark Hall became the home of Student Health Services in 1942. After Student Health Services moved to a new facility in 1999, the first floor was renovated to create the East Campus Dining Facility. In 2003, the remaining floors were renovated to make offices for several campus departments.

Clark Hall was renamed in 1942 after Walter Clark Jr., the youngest person to graduate from NC State at 18 years old with a mechanical engineering degree in 1903.
