Originally Corporate Research I, this building was one of the first buildings built on Centennial Campus and opened in 1991. In 2013, the University Board of Trustees unanimously approved renaming the building to Poulton Innovation Center. This renaming was to honor chancellor Bruce Robert Poulton who served as chancellor from 1982-1989. Under his leadership, Centennial Campus was established in 1984.
