The Plant Sciences Building from the front.

Opening in 2022, the Plant Sciences Building represents the latest thinking in design and construction to meet the complex needs of team-based plant science. The headquarters of the N.C. Plant Sciences Initiative, the facility attracts exceptional faculty and students from around the world, and helps better connect off-campus assets and research stations. From its location on Centennial Campus, scientists and staff can seamlessly integrate research and talent with the College of Engineering, the College of Natural Resources, the Wilson College of Textiles, and the Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center.

The Plant Sciences Building’s scientific workplace consists of wet lab, dry lab, and office components. It is occupant-focused, and supports collaboration among the interdisciplinary teams of researchers through its design and construction features. Most workspaces in the building were designed with versatility in mind and can be reconfigured, as needed, to accommodate current and future research initiatives.
